Pre-Columbian Pottery Colima Bird Effigy Vessel
Ca. 100 BC - 250 AD
Very UnusualColima Pottery Vessel in the shape of a Bird. This charming piece features a squat round tripod chamber supporting a shallow bowl / dish featuring the projecting up-tilted head of a bird; tail and incised "wing" rim extensions on sides. Hand-formed gray-ware pottery.
Excellent piece with exceptional eye appeal. Head re-attached else intact.
Length 5-1/2 in. (14.5 cm).
Formerly a Private Nevada Collection; Ex Dr David Harner Collection, Arkansas, acquired 1950's-60's.
